Course tutor: Robert McCreery Introduction course suitable of all people taking up bee keeping or considering taking up bee keeping. The course covers the basics of beekeeping from setting up an apiary and acquiring bees to health & safety, hive management, swarm control, disease control and honey production. It will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 till 9.30PM Starting January 2018 The charge for the course is £100 and includes seven classroom sessions and three practical sessions in the apiary, an examination fee.

Course Tutor: Vanessa Drew Start date; 20th September 2017 Wednesday evenings 6.30pm - 8.30pm This Intermediate level Beekeeping course builds on the knowledge gained from the Preliminary course and improves the understanding of both the scientific and practical aspects of beekeeping. It consists of three parts; Scientific, Practical and Apiary Practical, delivered over a period of at least two years and leading to the Federation of Irish Beekeepers’ Associations (FIBKA) Intermediate Certificate of Proficiency in Beekeeping. The Scientific and Practical parts will each consist of 15 “winter” evening classroom sessions, delivered in alternative years. The Ulster Beekeepers’ Association (UBKA) will deliver the classroom Practical part of the course in 4 of their centres
